In early 1996, the RTO Group brought the concept of
centralized pre-press to our long-time client, Pepsi-Cola.
In August that year, after participating in an exhaustive
research process and a competitive RFP against two national
pre-press operations, RTO was awarded the contract.
By the end of the year, we had set up a facilities management
site at Pepsi, backed by a hand-picked production team
at our vendor’s Connecticut plant. We had become
the exclusive provider of file preparation services
for Pepsi’s national Point of Purchase programs.
Additionally, we continued to play a role as one of
their key print vendors. By 1997, we were providing
most pre-press services apart from packaging. In 1998,
we designed and built the Pepsi Image Database to catalog
and house of Pepsi’s digital assets. In 1999 we
initiated the move to an all-digital workflow, virtually
eliminating film costs and dramatically streamlining
the process.
CURRENT
Today, an on-site staff of four and a production team
of 20 provide pre-press services to Pepsi-Cola’s
Marketing Initiatives, Brand, Marketing Services, Customer
Marketing, Pepsi Design Group, Pepsi-Cola International
as well as the Pepsi Bottling Group and other franchise
bottlers:
